Stephen Colbert Interviews Neil deGrasse Tyson — do yourself a favor and watch this. Skip the first 3 minutes.
Gotta love the man.
I love thinking and talking about this kind of stuff. And there really is no better interviewer.

Nice tribute to Steve Jobs from Mint Digital. The portrait is made from parts of a MacBook Pro.

How do you start doing something like this? Are there classes, or do you just decide to buy a flying squirrel suit and a parachute and just jump off a cliff one day with the idea of, “Well, I’ll get better the more I do it.”
Experience Zero Gravity — beautiful footage of ballsy people. Very ballsy.

Heat Lightning
by Icky Blossoms
Really like this track from Omaha, NE band Icky Blossoms. Killer vocals from Sarah Bohling.
Listening to some old Coldplay. “A Rush Of Blood To The Head” is such a good album. Seems a bit strange that it’s 9 years old (released in August of 2002). Stranger still that that was my Sophomore year of college…
Going through some of my photos from my summer travels. I really like this one taken in the early morning on a cruise through Alaska’s Tracy Arm.
Been enjoying the Fruit Bats’ new album, Tripper. “The Banishment Song” is quite different from what I know of the Fruit Bats, namely their album Mouthfuls. It’s nearly a Scissor Sisters song with the funky falsetto vocals (you’ll hear what I mean after the minute long intro). The album is quite eclectic as a mix of folk, alt-folk, hints of electronic at times, and bits of pop-rock, but ends up just being fun to listen to.

Is there some place in the US that looks like this? I’d move there.

Eyes Be ClosedWashed Out’s debut LP has been getting a lot of hype this summer, and for good reason. If you’re looking for a change of pace (and want to reminisce on the 80’s) check out the whole album. It’s chillwave. Turn it on, relax, and chill out. Another great track: Amor Fati.
You can’t ignore the 1950’s influence in Cults’ debut album, but they take old fashioned, simple beats and progressions and add plenty of their own personality, punk, and effects to create a really addictive indie pop. Another good summer album. Really like the chorus on this tune.
